One of the best new things about living in NYC

First order had a bad red pepper -- got a refund in less than a day. Second order was one hour late (they schedule two-hour windows), got a shipping refund a day and change later. Everything else was great!

The only real downer is that you need to order a day or two in advance because the delivery slots fill-up fast.

I haven't tried it yet since there's an excellent C-Town right across the street.

Damn, every C-Town I've ever been to is pretty ghetto.

FreshDirect is pretty good, unless you don't want to get raped.

They have a warehouse right near my old home, where my grandparents are in LIC. Not even an eight minute drive from the location. They don't even service that area.

I've heard that too, but the one on 1st and 89th is excellent. The Gristedes on 86th, by comparison, is far more ghetto.

The Gristedes on 86th and 1st (the one with the big green pear in front)? I always thought it was really nice!

Would have to agree. Most C-Town stores seem a far cut below Fresh Direct standards.

The free $50 ($75 in some cases) offer doesn't hurt either.

It's not bad. I use it as a backup store in case I can't find what I need at C-Town. C-Town has better meat, seafood and produce, and their store is cleaner as well.

It's a little far for me now, but I may be moving further uptown in the next couple months. I'll have to check it out then.

A quick update to an old thread... we've pretty much converted completely to Fresh Direct, except for a few little things here and there. It still takes time to plan meals and place the order online, but it's been a great time saver. There haven't been any more quirks worth a mention.

A quick update from me as well...I've moved and I still haven't visited that C-Town. :p
And FD didn't give me $50 free food at my new address! Guess the promotion is over... :(

Hey guys, I just wanted to revive this thread to say I got a flyer for Best Yet Market the other day and placed an order through them. They only deliver to UES at the moment, but MAN, they destroy FD on price. I just received my order and everything looks great, nice quality meats and all the produce looks very nice and freash. Only 1 substitution and 1 out of stock item. They have a $25 off $75 first timer's coupon, PM me if you want it. Delivery charge is $5 and they do same day delivery if you order before 9 AM. Seriously, I got a larger than usual order for about half the price of a typical FD order for me. I'm using these guys from now on!!!

Whatever happened to Home Grocer or whatever that grocery delivery service was?
