Frequent urination

Nocturnal

For the past few weeks I've had to use the restroom quite a few times throughout the day. I don't drink much water. I have a co-worker who is a little older than I am and he brings in those huge bottles of water and drinks almost the entire thing and I haven't seen him leave to go use the restroom once. Where as myself, if I drink a large drink, I'll have to use the restroom every ten-fifteen minutes. I also wake up during the middle of the night due to the urge of having to urinate.

Other than this, I don't have any symptoms of a UTI. I'm wondering what else it could be and if anyone else has had this problem.

Btw, I'm 23 years old, overweight. Other than that I'm in good shape, I think.

I piss a lot during the day. I think its because I drink a lot of coffee and water (well of course it is.) Also when i drink booze I pee non stop. I can go hours without pissing, but once i break the seal its like once an hour .

Ooh, he could be right -- overweight, frequent urination... I saw an episode of Scrubs about it, so I think I'm perfectly qualified to confirm this diagnosis. Definitely diabetes.

Could be any number of things like diabetes or your prostate's acting up (if you're a guy, that is).

Go to the doctor and get yourself checked out.

I've been drinking pop (namely, Mt Dew or Livewire) non-stop for a couple of years now. I could drink a *lot* of it without having to use the restroom... I would sip on Mt Dew all day long at work (desk job). I would have 3-4 cans of pop, plus lunch (and water or milk or whatever I had with lunch), and then a lot of the time I would go all afternoon sipping on pop or whatever, without needing to use the restroom.

Now, I drink a single 20 oz bottle of water, and I have to use the restroom almost immediately. WTF? It's only when I drink water - I'm still the same way if I'm just drinking pop and whatnot... but I've been drinking a lot more water than I used to. It's annoying. Other odd things have been happening since I started drinking "normal" amounts of water, too. :-\

I was diagnosed with prostatitis...an infection of the prostate. Doc gave me antibiotics, and I'm doing better. Not 100%, but better. he also advised me to cut back on my caffeine (drank a lot of Dr Pepper).

Stop talking crap.
You can't make that kind of diagnosis unless he takes his pants off first, you idiot.

i visited a urologist recently and during the prostate exam the main focus was on urination: frequency, color, length, feeling, etc, etc
prettymuch the more frequent, the more yellow, the more "thick" and more short the stream then the more likely it is you got some sorta prostate problem.
luckly my problem was kidney based...or unlucky as i have kidney stones :(

peeing frequently is a symptom of being a female

since you don't have any of the other warning signs for that, i would say get checked for diabetes. does your urine smell sweet? thats another warning sign

You'd only have diabetes if you had unquenchable thirst with your frequent urination. So you probably don't have to worry about that.

I also have to go to the bathroom frequently-- I cut back on my soda intake recently and started drinking water instead. I think my problem is just that I've suddenly started drinking much more water than I used to.

Do you drink a lot of caffeine? It's a diuretic.
