Frequent Timeouts With Wireless LAN

I have a Linksys WRTG54G access point and a D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL-G520. Lately, I've been having frequent timeouts on my computer. Every hour or so, sometimes more often, the internet on my computer completely stops. No pages will load and AIM stops working. (Yes, I'm addicted) I've surfed the forums to no avail and can't find anything that will help it. I am not using WEP encryption. Anyone know why i have these timeouts and how I can fix them. The AP and my computer are about 15 meters apart in a striaght line...or 4m straight up and about 7 across. (One floor and one wall)

Thanx

thats sorta far. i can't remember exactly how omni directional antennas work, but i think they sorta have a field like a donut. so unless your router is raisesd up pretty high, signal is probably more likely to be degraded. if theres metal or pipes, those could be bad too. if there are neighbors on nearby or same channel wifi/phones thats bad too. u can use netstumbler to find other networks and their channels generally. 1 5 11 are the only really separate channels. cordless 2.4ghz esp spread spectrum just wipe out wifi😛

does windows give alittle network lost connection thing?

Umm....thats only about 45 feet. B can usually run about 150ft and G can go about 75ft. I'm run my G about the same distance and I usually pick up about 60-75% signal strength.

Its actualy less direct distance than I've had before. After it times out, I get the network connected notice from windows, but I never get anything about it being disconnected. Its pretty much spontaneous. Is there a way I could change my D-Link card to b so I could get a better signal, speed isn't that important to me.

well i meant far in terms of how the antenna works. i'm hazy on this, but i think the omni directional antennas that come with routers are mostly horizontal range.

i have a gs.
