Frequent "spikes"

Well, lately on my computer, at various times,i just get these little sort of lag spikes where everything stops, or just moves really slow, for 10 seconds or so. It seems to come at random times, and dont believe it has anything to do with my internet connection. Can anyone give me a heads up on what it may be?

Are you talking about your internet connection that gets lag spikes or your computer in general? Check msconfig for anything foreign that might be loading up, and run Adaware/Spybot to see if you have any spy programs in memory. If it still happens then do an online virus scan.
