Hello, all,
Basically, my problem is as follows...I get disconnected for short periods of time. This has probably been happening since I got Road Runner, (I live in NYC) but now that I've been playing Halo 2 a lot on Xbox Live, and getting disconnected every couple rounds, it's really started to drive me insane. On the computer, I'm just disconnected from AIM and can't go to any websites, sometimes just for a few seconds, sometimes for much longer. I have tried everything...hours and hours on tech support. I switched routers, (from the D-Link DI-624 to a Buffalo one, the WBR-G54) I called Roadrunner, they sent a tech and he replaced my old Toshiba modem with the new RCA one, I even got a new Xbox because the old one gave me disk read error problems. And after all that, my problem remains. I've messed for hours with router settings, and every time I think there's a glimmer of hope I get cruelly smacked down by another disconnection notice. So today, about to give up hope, I looked at my modem logs. Lo and behold, I have numerous error messages. They are as follows:

The last number on each line is the number of times that error occurred...so some of them are happening very frequently. I know this has to be RR's fault, it seems to me I've looked into everything else and ruled it out. I called RR about these logs, even though they transferred me to a level 2 tech, the guy didn't even want to hear the errors, he just said he'd send another tech...not even a higher level tech, which he said exists, but the same one who has come before, said my signal is ok, and left without fixing anything. The only other thing I'm not sure about is whether there might be some weak link in the cabling here in my apartment, and I'm not sure how to check that. On this forum, I saw another thread started by someone who had identicial error messages. He said he solved his problem by lowering the MTU to 1480. Can someone tell me how to do that? I have a Buffalo router which does not allow me to change the MTU size (I called Buffalo to make sure it really doesn't). However, I also still have the DI-624 which I think does allow you to change it. Do I use the DI-624 to change the MTU size, or do I use the modem or the PC itself? I know there's a way to change the MTU on the PC, but then that MTU would not apply to my Xbox, right? Just my PC? So my PC would no longer have problems but my Xbox still would? Is there a way, with the DI-624 or otherwise, that I can change the MTU so that the new size is in effect for the Xbox as well? Please answer these questions as thoroughly as you can, I'm sort of an amateur at this stuff...thanks, I really appreciate it, if you can help me out here you will have ended months of suffering.
Also, in case you need this, I'm going to post the stats from the diagnostics page of my modem config:
