Frequent audio drop-outs

Sometimes when playing UT2K4 or listening to music on Winamp, my sound will just drop. When it happens in winamp, the progress bar just stops and the graphics analyzer freezes where it's at. If I press stop and play again, it goes back to 0:00 but does not start playing. Everything else runs fine, but the sound controller just seems to crap out. If I try to do anything else that deals with making sounds, it doesn't happen, and the software goes kind of buggy (like the speaker configuration test in the AC97 manager will just kind of freeze). If I try to restart, it has a little stutter and then eventually reboots and I get this error on start-up:

BCCode : d1 BCP1 : 00000004 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000001
BCP4 : F883EFE9 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 1_0 Product : 768_1

Files included in the error report: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini072004-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Travis\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml

I'm using WinXP Home and my audio controller is integrated into the Abit IS7 motherboard. I'm using 6.1 surround with phono/composite cables, but this problem happens if I'm just using left/right channels too.

This is really irritating. Any ideas? If I can't fix it I'll probably just buy a mid-range sound card.
