Frequency Over Range - Monitor Error

Ti4200 on Windows XP with a Viewsonic A90 monitor.

I've been trying to run a dos game, but before the game even boots, I'm getting, "Frequency Over Range" on my monitor. I then have to press escape to return to the desktop, otherwise the monitor will stay on that black screen.

I'm not sure what's going on. I've tried changing drivers and refresh rates, even changing it to 16 bit from 32 bit.

Any help would be great.
 
the game is trying to automaticly set the refres rate too high for the monitor to support try looking to see if there is a config file the game uses that is currupt or wrong
