Im wondering what the average cost for a freon recharge in a car is. Someone is supposedly hooking me up with a discount and i want to know what the average cost is. Possibly a car thats comparable to a dodge neon. Thanks for any help!

I think the minimum charge is $40.00 to hook it up to gages, and add a set amount of freon. Any repairs or freon beyond that set amount is extra. In other words, best price you can hope for is $40.00.

It really depends on what kind of A/C freon you have in your car. If you have R12 it can be pretty expensive, mines costed almost $200.00 for a thorough check to see if there were any leaks and also to refill the gas itself. If you have R34, you can easily buy those refill kits from K-Mart which contain freon and refill them yourself.

You don't ever "recharge" freon. The only way a vehicle would need more freon is if there is a tiny leak.
