I guess showing that Galt is a hypocrite is equivalent to criticizing Bush now.

I'm more interested in why someone would bring it up. In Bow's case, it's likely because he's against the war, in Galt's case however, it's likely some bizarre way of "getting back" at the libs/dems on the forum. The logic that blaming Bush for Iraqi deaths is the equivalent of blaming Chirac for French deaths is fundamentally flawed. The war in Iraq and the French heat wave are apples and oranges. It's rather pointless to compare them, don't you think?
I can't pretend my disapproval of the invasion doesn't affect my point of view. However, I believe I called Galt on it because it's a fundamental issue of honesty and human decency. If the war supporters are OK with the death of 10,000 innocent Iraqis -- or whatever the right number may be -- that's between them and their consciences. It is not acceptable, however, to dismiss the Iraqi deaths entirely by ignoring them. That is dishonest at best, racist at worst.

Consider a counter-example. Assume someone named "Abdul" posted a message attacking France and defending Osama bin Laden. What would the reaction be if he posted a thread titled, 19 (on 9/11) vs. 10,000 (in France)...How many deaths are enough?? He'd have 50 replies calling him an asshat and a fvcktard and UQ's special little expletive. People on both sides of the Iraq issue would be outraged that Abdul ignored the nearly 3,000 people who died on 9/11, that he treats their deaths as irrelevant.

There'd be no static about how "stupid" or exploitive it is to point this out, no nonsense about "becoming what you're fighting against". We would all agree that Abdul is scum. Yet these same people give Galt a pass when he makes an equally outrageous claim about Iraqis. It is blatant hypocrisy.

Whatever, the point is made, the horse is beaten. We all saw that Galt lacks the integrity to apologize. Like the Bush administration he adores, accountability and accepting responsibilty for one's mistakes is a foreign concept.

You would think that in this day and age, a life would = a life. Not the case so very often in these forums. The Americans killed on 9.11 are held in much higher regard than the same number of dead French, Iraqis, Afghanis, etc. Yes, 9.11 was tragic, but so are all the other deaths around the world. A lot of them inflicted by the U.S.

On 9.11, the entire world reached out to the U.S. with sympathy and compassion. Hell, even the French newspaper declared, "We are all Americans." You would think the least we could do is have some sympathy for their tragedies. You would think that we could reciprocate for once, instead of just giving the whole world the finger.

In a way, it's a sort of mirror for what's going on in Israel. The West weeps for every Isreali that is killed, the Middle East weeps for every Palestinian killed, but never the other way around. No wonder they hate us (and apparantly we hate them, or at least some of us do).
