There are two sins for which women cannot be forgiven

1. getting fat
2. growing old

you're better off dead than being either of the above imho.

Well gee, that's odd. My grandmother on my fathers side would tend to disagree with you. She's 70 years old. In great shape for her age. Cranked out 7 kids in 15 years time. And she's having more fun now at 70 than she did at 30.

I think she meant growing old mentality-wise, not age-wise.

That just makes things even easier then.

Before I would have said out of the two "sins" women would rather die than have happen, one of them is avoidable and preventable. Now both of them are if you are saying she means it's a mental thing.

You don't have to let yourself get fat, and you don't have to let your brain atrophy away.

Did you ever consider that your mother doesn't consider living to become an elderly woman a goal worth pursing ?

Well...her mother died at the age of 55 from a stroke...which was caused by super high blood pressure which smoking was not exactly helping.

Her step-father at the age of 74 can't even walk up the stairs in his home without reaching for the oxygen tank at the top due to sever emphysema...yet he still continues to puff away a couple packs a day in between hits of the oxygen. He's just a matter of time before he keels over and kicks it.

So yeh, she did have some bad roll models.

How quaint.

fat people, old people are basically invisible in our society at best, mocked, scorned and hated at worst.Add to that the increasing fragilty of the body in old age and it's easy to see why some would prefer the early checkout time option over the "living to a ripe old age" thing.

It's not because of the smoking.

So the smoking doesn't speed up your metabolism and suppress apetite?

Sure it does, but it isn't the reason why they aren't fat.

So if it does speed up their metabolism and suppress their apetite, then it stands to reason that they'll lose some weight.

Sadly, some people totally lack self-control. I wish I could get on TV, interrupt their favorite reality show and introduce some reality to them. They're at fault for their conditions. It's always easier to find a scapegoat than to find the motivation to do something about it.

It's semantics for sure. It's more of a prevention in weight gain than a cure for weight loss.

Suffice it to say, if you are looking twords smoking for weight loss your priorities are a little messed up. 😉
