Yoy MAY be able to go to the control panel and go the
"Regional and Language Options" - The second tab says "Languages" and you can select the default language that your computer starts at.
This seems like it will work but i dont have a french version to test it out. hope it helps.
by the way if you know anythings about MAC file types - .sit .toast .dmg

That option is to change the default "input" language. You'll be able to read/type in English but all windows menus & system info. will be in french. For running applications, you can enable English for non-Unicode programs that will allow you to run programs in English (it will be just like running programs in English windows). If you want to use English for windows menus & system info. you would need to install the MUI pack.
