French music suggestions

I love listening to songs in French, I think the language is very condusive to music and sounds beautiful. However, I don't really know where to start looking for something like this. What I enjoy most is softer female vocals, something a little easier than Edith Piaf. Any suggestions or ideas where I could start looking?

stereolab? rockish, but in a repetitive and soothing way. they also use english, possibly not what your looking for.

The only example I can really give you is that intro song from the Ocean's 12 soundtrack, if you've ever heard it. I will check out stereolab though.
