ugh, the wifey wants to upgrade our sliding door to french doors. It'll look nice since the living room opening is pretty big, 10ft wide. But I wasn't sure, is swing in or swing out the norm?

Why not sliding french doors that slide into a wall pocket so they open up completely?

Have you ever seen a disappearing window wall? About as classy as you can get.
They are quite popular in floridian style homes... but would seem more fun in CA since the weather is more agreeable and there are fewer bugs.
