ugh, the wifey wants to upgrade our sliding door to french doors. It'll look nice since the living room opening is pretty big, 10ft wide. But I wasn't sure, is swing in or swing out the norm?

I dunno, the wife really likes the french doors vs sliding ... I guess cause it has more of a classly look?
I just hope it'll reflect on the price when we end up selling the house a few yrs. down the line, it's $2k more than the sliding door.

Have you ever seen a disappearing window wall? About as classy as you can get.
They are quite popular in floridian style homes... but would seem more fun in CA since the weather is more agreeable and there are fewer bugs.

These are multiple section sliding glass doors that create a disapearing exterior wall so you can open an entire wall to the outside.
Like I said, they are very popular in modern upscale floridian homes.

don't know why everyone is laughing at him. Installing hinges so the pins are outside is moronic unless you get NRP hinges. All someone would need to break in quickly and quietly is a screwdriver, pocketknife or other pointed instrument. At least if they have to break a window it will deter some thieves.
