Are there still any1 out there that's boycotting French products? If so, what exactly are they boycotting? I'm just curious

I think most people forgot all about it. Thank god for the American attention span. Only the extreme conservatives are still eating freedom fries and freedom toast.

Bought a new set of tires ($700) that weren't Michelin but could have been.
If the boycott wasn't having an effect why would french business associations print full page adds begging us to end it.
When it comes right down to it a boycott is the only real power the common man has to influence foreign countries.
Of course our trade defecit comes in handy by hurting them more than it hurts us.

U.S. Consumers Want Boycott of French, German Goods

Fri Apr 25,11:40 AM ET

GENEVA, Switzerland - One in three consumers in the United States is ready to boycott goods from France and Germany over the two countries' opposition to the U.S.-British invasion of Iraq , according to a survey released Friday.

The U.S. survey was taken between April 17-21 ...

French exporters have already voiced alarm over a potential sharp drop in sales, reflected in decisions by U.S. supermarkets to postpone special French food weeks and in a fall in custom for French restaurants in the United States.

I have been eating French cheese. It is mana from heaven. Nothing like a French triple cream cheese on fresh French bread. I'll let the idiologs boycott the French. I'm eating their cheese. Where did we go so wrong that we can't make the variety and wonderousness of French cheeses here at home. Damn, do the French have a palate or what. And French cooking. Geez what a glorious people. I can't think of anything more wonderful than the joy of French cheese. What an absolutly astounding race. Phenominal. Goats and sheep walk around in my mouth when I eat their cheese. Cows go MOOO. Incredible, what joy it brings. A million kinds. If I live for ever I'll never taste them all. Viva la France! I gotta go taste some cheese. I got Micheline on my Cadillac too. Perfect for hauling cheese.

The survey also showed that U.S. citizens were more angry with France -- 43 percent of those questioned saying they were less likely to buy French products -- than with Germany, whose goods were likely to be scorned by only 36 percent.
Translation: Germany makes more stuff that we like and buy so we won't boycott them as much because then we'd have to give up our BMWs, Mercedes and such. We love our country, but we love our cars even more. We're all for the boycott....as long as it's not too inconvenient.

Yes, you are right, I am a self hating American. Besides, the article refers to a survey where "One in three consumers in the United States is ready to boycott goods from France and Germany". Ready to, not actually boycotting. And one in three is 33.33%, hardly a majority. And the French have voiced alarm over a POTENTIAL sharp drop in sales. Besides, I don't see how hurting the average French man, because they are the ones who are going to be hurting, is being partriotic. It's like the terrorists who kill ordinary Americans because they are pissed off by the actions of our government. It's stupid, and IMHO ignorant. I will not stop driving my German car, and I will not pour my French wine down the gutter.

The silver lining, Blinb, is that a boycott might force a sale on French cheese. I'm gonna love that.

Yes, you are right, I am a self hating American.

Even you Moonies have espoused a philosophy of self-hate. Perhaps it works for you two though I would suggest you get some professional help. Self-hate is not a normal condition.

As for a boycott of French products, if I choose to buy a domestic wine on my next purchase than I also have that right. If you choose to support them, than that is your choice.

Ain't America grand that way.

Actually neither. As for self hate, till you know it there's not much you can do about its effects. That's the point of becoming conscious. I always like getting a post in which I'm accused of nah nay that's not me to finish off with nah nah, I don't hate myself you do. :D If you would just take a minute to look at yourself you could avoid such obvious hypocrisy. :D
