freezing while burning

okay i wonder if anyone can help out with this.

about 2 days ago, i found my burner kept freezing the system in the middle of a burn, i have an 8X Sony Spressa using Nero 5.5. I made about 10-15 coasters this way. :|

Weirdly enough, it will NOT freeze while burning a 4X CDRW, OR at 8X with CDRWin, DiscJuggler, or EZCD Creator. I've reinstalled Nero, to no avail. I would like to keep using it since it's the easiest to use and most straightforward program. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

I found this using Nero 5.5, so I switched to EZCD 5 Platinum. It worked a charm. When you said you're system freezes, does it mean that you cannot access anything? What are you're system specs?

the entire system goes unresponsive and i have to reboot. no ctrl-alt-delete tricks or nuthin.

my specs are tbird 1.33, 512MB crucial, winxp, sony spressa scsi.

never had stability issues until this.

i would use EZCD 5 but for some reason it seems to take a long time to cache files before burning, which gets a little annoying. i'm using it for now.
