Well, the freeze is back for February in 2022. And we are expecting a sheet of ice covered by snow in north Texas.

Supposedly we are prepared this time...but time will tell.

And we may have power but will we have water? Last year water mains broke all over the place.

Fun times.

Huge Winter Storm Has Texas Gov. Abbott Singing a Different Tune About Power Outages

No one can guarantee there won't be [power outages]," Governor Greg Abbott said during a press conference held Tuesday. (It should be noted that in December, Abbott told a local news station he could "guarantee the lights will stay on" this winter.

But a question for all. When you're under the gun for a storm, do you focus on it just in case something happens? Or do you go about your business and if it happens, oh well?

I tend to be somewhere in between and sometimes can't sleep until I know it's clear.

I've seen fire and I've seen rain.
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend.

But today I loaded up with essentials and hunkered down for a very long stretch at home.

It's early days in February, but nothing here...yet. 3 years ago, we got 4" of snow...while the rest of the region got hammered with 2 or more feet of the stuff.
I remain hopeful that the snow will stay away.

Benefits of being closer to the coast, I guess.

Someone posted this on Nextdoor....LOL

Encourage others around you to also panic by uploading pictures of crowded grocery store lines.

Buy every gallon of milk you can find. Is two gallons enough for two days of winter weather? Doubt it, buy 6.

Do not make eye contact with anyone in the bread aisle. This is a surefire way to incite unnecessary stampedes.

Check road reports constantly by asking on Nextdoor.com how the roads are. It's snowing but are the roads covered? We don't know until we ask.

For every 0.5 inches of precipitation forecasted, you will need one loaf of bread and one dozen eggs. For example, 12 inches of snow forecasted X 2 equals 24 dozen eggs and 24 loaves of bread.

Become an immediate social media expert on city snow removal tactics, school superintendent decisions, and meteorological forecasts. Who knows better than you? Not a single person who actually does these things for a living.

Drive your front wheel drive Camry up steep hills during the event and take pictures to tell everyone how they should stay off the roads because it's dangerous, because of you.

that's the playbook for all the CA and TX transplants in CO too.

last night, a little slippery. someone with a TX plate driving 20 mph playing pinball across 2 lanes on a divided highway with a speed limit of 65 and about 500 angry people behind them.

we got about a foot of snow, a bit more than forecasted. cleared my neighbors driveways this afternoon with the snowblower on the 50hp tractor. back to normal in the morning.

Freezing rain sucks, we sometimes get unlucky and get it here but so far so good this year, it's stayed cold enough to avoid it. It's a pain having to deal with that in the morning and getting it off the car and usually screws up the driveway and roads for a while too before more snow falls on top and gets packed down.

Stayed in the high 20's overnight here in Houston. So I think we're going to be good this go-around. I'm supposed to be out in Midland next week so I'm hoping it warms up a bit!

Got some freezing rain, some sleet and some snow on top of it all. Roads are wasted, can't hardly step out my door since I'm on a hill and traction is non existent.

But no power or web loss.

It was 51 at 6am this morning and pissing rain. Now 33 and still raining. Kids get a half day due to weather. Driving 20 minutes to Glen Rock NJ this afternoon in potentially freezing rain for my daughter's rehersal/show is gonna be SUPER FUN.
