hey folks,

I just purchased a IBM T40 about two weeks ago from craigslist. I formatted it the day I purcahsed it and filled it up with all of my required software. One day, I was reading some sport websites and it just loaded with pop-ups. I wasn't able to install a sweeper, so I restored it from the previous date. The computer often freezes abruptly and I am forced to restart. The HD on this computer is fairly new and I have no idea what I should do to fix this. Please share any helpful advice you may have to solve this situation. Thanks.

Sorry M4H, covered ;)

Freezing is one of any number of things:
*Driver incompatibilities
*General Windows FUBAR
*Hard drive failing
*Bad memory
*Overheat
*Unstable power

You can eliminate HDD failure by downloading a utility from the drive manufacturer to test the drive. For memory download MemTest. Download Notebook Hardware Control to monitor your temperatures.

Get all the latest drivers from here:

Eliminate whatever you can and report back
