I just installed an Nvidia 7950GT and 1GB Corsair XMS2 PC6400 RAM. I'm running the 93.71 Forcewares, and I keep getting constant freezes in Oblivion. It happens in no other game. They occur every 5 minutes or so, and require me to turn off my computer via the power button because no other alternative seems to fix the issue.

Does Oblivion have any kind of support? You should probrably contact them and see if anyone else has this issue with their game with your system specs. It sounds like a hardware issue but it is strange that it doesn't happen to you on any other game. Have you played other games for hours on end without a problem or have you just played other games a little bit? Also you say the freezes happen every 5 minutes, does it matter if your computer has been on very long? Do the freezes happen 5 minutes after launch of the game for the first time after reboot?

I had the same problem with the 93.71 drivers but I could not get past the opening screen of options before it froze. I dropped down to the 91.73 drivers and the problem went away. Might be worth a try.

It happens 5 minutes after reboot as well, but it happens in no other games, so I know it isn't a heat/overworking problem. Also, I get past the screen of options just fine, and last night I played for a couple of hours undisturbed, but this morning it has gotten worse.

Okay, now it's just plain crashing whenever I look at certain places. No more freezing with looping sounds (which resulted in a full-blown freeze), it just crashes straight to the desktop. There's one area in Skingrad that I look at and it shuts the games down, and two in Chorrol. I have absolutely no idea why; just started happening a few hours ago.
