Freezing in 3D

🙁 Here's the senario. Soyo Dragon Plus Motherboard with Athalon 1700, 256M DDr ram and a Radeon 8500 AGP card. In both Win2k pro and WinMe I get freezes when playing 3D games like Asheron's call DAOC, Wizardy 8. I've installed all the latest drivers and the problem persits. However the system is rock solid stable doing anything else. What can be causing this problem and how can i fix it?
 
Try downloading the radeon driver off their website. It may be a newer version. Before installing, remove the driver in device manager and re-boot, then reload the newer driver. I had a similar problem with only one game, and that fixed the problem.
