Freezing Computer When Playing Games/3dMark

Ok just built my self a secondary PC for gaming specs are as follows:

Windows Vista Business X64
Asus P5n-E 650i motherboard
Intel Core Quad Q6600
4GB Corsair XMS RAM
Point Of View 8800GT Graphics
Hiper 530W Power Supply (also tried an Antec Earthwatt 500W psu with no effect)

Ok the problem is that after a random amount of time in a game it freezes the whole machine and i have to do a hard reboot to get going again, my temperatures all seem fine the GPu rarely pushes above 65 degrees and my cpu rarely over 55 under load.

I have tried 2 PSUS (listed above) to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated

Do you have anything overclocked? It could be the ram. What speed, latencies and voltage is the ram running at?
You could try prime95 and memtest to test for stability

i have run 2 instances of orthos (running on all 4 cores) to stress the CPU, and run memtest for 2 hours to check stability and both came with no errors, nothing is overclocked.

Im unsure on my latency and things its all set to Auto in the bios and i didnt really want to play around with it until i was stable.
Edit:
it should be noted that when i try run prime95 my cores show no load and my pc becomes extremely unresponisve

I have just downloaded cpuz and it reports my ram as
