Problem: UT GOTY freezes at random (not necessarily when under heavy stress) -occasionally when finding internet games, sometimes when playing single player, more often during online multiplayer. Mechwarrior4 locks up ALL THE TIME! ARG!

Diagnosis: ? (This is where you come in.) Ususally run the MX O/C @ 205/195, but still freezes at default. System is not OCed.

Any ideas??? (It seems that UT lock ups are common prob- how bout MW4?) This is makin me wish i bought a Dell...

The freezing could be driver related or game version related. Don't buy a Dell just because PC magazine rates them high. At least the ones I looked at were extremely limited for upgrading, 3rd party free tech support is as good, and manufacturer warranty on parts are usually better. If you want a name brand gaming PC consider Alienware since they seem to make PC's with the parts that I would choose.

Lookin for a little more specific help...and i was just kiddin about the Dell...even though they are pretty good (overpriced) machines...i got the parts i wanted on my machine, now if i could just make it work 😱p
 
Dont have driver version on hand- but know they one of the latest versions (actually beta at the time)...just installed a couple months ago- is there some driver issue that you are aware of?
 
From what I've heard the detanator 3 7.17 has a few problems with it. I believe but don't quote me 6.38 are the best right now.
 
I put together an Abit Kt7 RAID for my son and brother, both had random freezes (especially in IE) until we changed the memory settings in the Advanced Chipset Features section of the BIOS from the SDRAM 8/10ns to Turbo on the one computer and Fast on the other. You might experiment there first. It fixed our freezing.
