Freezes @ higher speeds

To start off:
-I'm fairly new to overclocking
-I have an ASUS A8V Deluxe motherboard
-My video card is a Sapphire Radeon X800 Pro
-I'm using ATI Tool 0.26
-The default clock speed of my card is 475/450

Whenever I clock my card above ~580 core speed, my computer freezes. Is this because I need to raise my voltage, or should I just leave it clocked at 580 (will probably lower closer to 565 - 570, just to be on the safe side)?

My temperatures are barely even approaching 50C under load (thanks to my Zalman HSF).

And I've asked questions about raising my voltage before, and I just get the reply "If you're asking, you shouldn't be touching it." If this is so, and my question can't be answered by a simple "yes" or "no", then can someone please point me to a good guide for these types of things?

Thanks for help,
-Jeremy

You can increase the voltage so it overclock better, but has to make sure that you have a very high quality power supply and keep the temperature on a safe range, remember that increasing the voltage will also decrease the lifetime of your GPU. So do it sparangly.
