This is the second major problem I have on my machine after the problem with my vidcard. just after I finish playing games, the system sometimes freezes up when I wanna run some programs (IE, Mozilla, etc.). Is it because of overheating or lacking the memory?

What does the nVidia display control panel say about the temperatures after exiting a game? My 6600GT is around 65-70C after a few hours' full load, because of the air paths in my case. It's also slightly higher because it's passively cooled.
I'd test your memory using Memtest+ (Google it) though, just to be sure.

i dont think it's heat issue since it happends afterwards not in the games...
i suspect that it's a software issue.. try reinstalling windows and see where it takes u..

How long does this freeze last? IS it a few seconds, or much longer. Mine does this some times after gaming, but only for about 3-4 seconds. Not sure exactly why, but it was sometimes longer before I upgraded to 2GB RAM.
For instance BF2 music would keep playing for about 5-10 seconds after I quit the game and the desktop screen appeared. Now the music stops immediately, but sometimes it takes a few seconds to be able to open up IE, a folder, etc.

OH, now that's a definite problem. I would first check your RAM in Memtest. If your RAM is fine, then it sound like a software problem.
Does this happen in all games, or only a certain one?

it happens not only after playing heavy games(most of my games are heavy like FEAR, COD, NFS), but also happens sometimes after my machine returns from long time idle condition.
