well... i've had this for a long time, and i always thought iwas cause this is how xp is...
well i just got 2 new systems.. both p4 2.4... and when i boot into my system, it boots up nice and quick... but it hasn't loaded all the system processes yet... so i hae to wait like 1-2 minutes for it to load them... and then i can start doing my thing...

my other system i got is for my cousin... when i boot up with her system she boots rite into xp... and all the processes is loaded... and she can start doing her thing rite away...

i know rite away cause when i boot up on my system, my nortan antivirus has a circle with a slash through it, indacitating not enabaled... while my cousins boots up without it.... i also check the task manager in the process tab, i have a few missing at the start... then later about 1-2 minutes the are loaded.. my cousins computer doesn't happen that way...

MY system is

p4 2.4
Abit IS7
512 twin mos pc3200
maxtor 160gig 8m cache
gf4 ti4800
antec 430 truepower supply

her system
p4 2.4
abit is7
512 geil pc3200
Seagate Baracuda 120gig
gf4 ti4200
350w powersupply p4 ready

i have tried switching parts around... no matter wat i still have a freeze time, and my cousin doesnt! =/

Short of reinstalling....

Or the bios settings the same??? Check them all...

Try disabling most all of the those programs at startup through the start --- run --- msconfig ---startup tab....

Then if it loads fine turn them on one by one and restart each time until you find the culprit....

Reinstalling certain programs or do a repair of winxp may be still in order...

Do you oc or have you oc'd or tweaked an fsb or ram timings???

Same bios settings??? Same bios update firmare??? Look at bootup black screen to see version of bios loaded...

I am thinking possible bad ram or maybe a bad harddrive....

Hows those voltages??? startup takes some juice as a lot of the drives are being accessed and initialized....

You can run diagnostics on the drive and run memtest86 on the ram....

Got a cable modem or network card??? I have seen some of them take a long time to initialize and cause issues like this...Disable them if you do and test that theory...
