Hello people, I'm new here and I have a crazy problem with my pc. I'll tell the whole story so we can see if anyone has a solution for me.
First of all, my pc is:
GA-X58A-UD3R motherboard
Intel Core I7 950 3.06GHz
3x 4GB Corsair 1333 mhz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 TI
OCZ 700W
SATA 3.0 HDD 1TB 7200RPM
So, let's start. 1 month ago, I started having some random freezes in my pc, the image completely freezes, nothing moves and it stays this way. So, my first thought was to clean the pc, and after I did that it remained 3 weeks without problems. Than, the freeze problems returned, and taking place more often, until it started freezing in the windows logo screen everytime, making it impossible to use the pc. After 2 days without being able to use it, I took it to a friend, who works with maintence. At his house, the pc worked normally (I was quite impressed with that), but he runed memtest, and found errors in 2 of my memories, but still he couldn't make it freeze like it hapened with me. So I took my pc home, and tested it with both "problematic" memories, and they made it freeze. When I turned on with the "good" memory, it worked fine. At this point, I thought the problem was solved and started using it with only 4 gb. It worked fine for 2 days, but than it started freezing again, but when it freezes at the windows logo screen, it stays ~10s froze and than the screen goes black, but the pc remains running. So, I noticed the CPU temperature led was red (not sure if it was before already) and the gforce cooler starts running at max speed when the image freezes (that was not hapening before). Again, it stayed like this for 2 days, until I took it to my friend's house again, and again getting there the pc works fine. He runned 3dmark with no problems, and couldn't find any temperature problem also. So we thought it might be some of my own equipment, like mouse, keyboard, modem or nobreak, as my pc never had problem at his house. I again took it back home, hoping it wouldn't work, and I would be able to make some tests using different equipments, but it worked fine, and here I am using it.
So, it's a really annoying problem, as it seems to always hide when we look for it.
Anyone has any ideas about possible problems? Or have seen this before?
I'm sorry about long text, and thank everyone for the time here. Hoping someone can help me.
Thanks a lot!
