I just reformatted my laptop 2 days ago. Before the format it would occasionally freeze anytime while booting, it would even bluescreen at least once daily. Now the only problem that remains is the frozen welcome screen. I dont have to login to my computer, so it just shows "Welcome" then goes right to my desktop, but it will freeze close to 50% of the time before getting there. I should also mention that the LCD occassionally fades to white when the freeze occurs, which also happened a few times prior to formatting. Also, I did not have SP2 installed before formatting. After the format I did install it, so I think tha's ruled out as a possibility.
Hopeing someone has some ideas, I could really use the assistance. Im not even sure whether it is hardware or software related. Thanks.
System:
Alienware Area-51m
Windows XP Home (SP2 installed)
2.8GHz Pentium 4
1024GB DDR
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600
Hitachi 60GB 7200RPM HDD
