Freeze after a beep sound...

i just got my computer, its amd 64 3000+ with msi motherboard(using win98se now). My computer always freeze after a beep sound, why is that happening, since this is a new computer. And it freeze alot, more than my old computer p3. Can any1 help me please....

i just check my pc temperature using sisoftware sandra: board temperature 42 degree , cpu temperature 58 degree , and power 31.5 degree. is it normal, or is this causing the problem....

Isn't that kindof >really< hot for a cpu temp?

But what kind of memory do you have in there? Make sure it's seated well on the mobo
