freeware software for making a sound board

hey all I'm going to be performing in a play and we need some help with sound effects. the guy is using cassette tapes for god's sake and it's not working at all. I'm wondering if there is some freeware applications where you can load wavs and mp3s into different blocks and trigger them with the mouse or midi controller. I know there has to be some but I need one that is customizable so I can put my own sounds into it, about maybe 50 different effects and songs.

any suggestions?

been googling and all i can find is the celebrity sound boards 🙁

i guess I could just use vsampler but I don't want to have to take my keyboard because it's pretty big...
