I recently got a samsung blackjack II, but I do not have a dataplan or the TeleNav software. I do not want to get them, and instead am looking for a freeware software that does not use the data feature. is there one?

no, either buy the software of sign up for the data plan.

on my blackberry i've tried ***** and AmAze. Both are free but require an active data connection.

there must be atleast ONE... are there any that doesn't use an active data connection but can also use downloadable maps?

if not, what is the cheapest offline navigation software?

I don't understand - you want a software that can use an active data connection, but you don't want the data plan? How exactly would that work?

TomTom or Garmin will work for your purpose, neither needs an active data plan.

edit: neither are free, nevermind

hmm... just say, if you already have GPS unit such as "Mio C230" or if your family member already have "MIOMAP", then it is not hard to transfer

Miomap.exe (version 3.0+)
sys.txt
icontactsdll.dll
iGo.db (version 3.0+)
License.DB
rssoloapi.dll
TAHOMA.TTF
TAHOMABD.TTF
usatmc.dat
DATA.Zip
Voice folder
TTS_PPC folder
SCHEME folder
MAPS folder
LANG folder
POI folder ( ahem...I see someone has upload full POI data for this version )

to your WM phone w/ SirfIII phone.

* oh, I know nothing about it, and it is illegal, so don't ask me.
