Freeware Folder Hiding/Locking program

I have done a few Google searches and found a few programs, but none of them seem to work. I downloaded one, and AVG caught a virus in it. With that close call, I decided to come here and ask if any of you use a freeware program to hide or lock folders? I did not see such a program in the sticky.
