Can anyone recommend a Freeware or very inexpensive Call tracking software for an IS Helpdesk?

We currenty have a really old Version of "Service Center" which is starting to die and there are no funds for upgrading to a new platform.

I tried searching for this because I have seen a similar thread before but can't seem to find that thread...

Thanks in advance!

Track it is very good, TMS is decent once you get used to the clunky interface.

A company I worked for a while back made their own in cold fusion and it is THE best I've ever used. I think they used to sell it as well

We use trackit it here. It's interface is nice, but there are a lot of little annoyances on the adminsitration side. Plus they nickel-and-dime the heck outta ya for any but the most basic feature set (a common occurence these days). For opensource stuff, I would say the only real contender is ZenTrack. GLPI is also a promising up-and-coming but it's developers are native French speakers and the English suffers some translation woes.

One of our other departments here wanted a simple little tracker too, so after about 2 weeks of learning Ruby on Rails, I just wrote a web based one in an afternoon.

For future reference of anyone asking about free open source help desks: http://www.opensourcehelpdesklist.com/

Keep in mind that free doesn't always mean low cost in your implementation. It really depends on the software and how much time you spend with it. Some (not all) commercial solutions may be found to be cheaper and more effective IMO.

It interesting to see my comment from over a year and half ago. I am now using and loving GLPI.
