Freespire O/S - thoughts

I am thinking about giving Freespire a try.

If you have used both Freespire and Ubuntu, please give me your thoughts regarding the two. Which do you like best. Reasons.

Thanks.

I checked out Linspire years ago and hated it. I checked out the screenshots for freespire though, and I'm not at al impressed with the overall look. Of course, freespire's main goal is to look and feel like Windows; whereas Ubuntu's goal is to look and feel like the best distro it can be.

One thing interesting that I noticed in the screenshots though - it looks like it has a package management system with proprietary software in it. Namely, it showed Postal 2: Share the Pain with a price tag on it. If they found a good way to integrate pay-for software into their packaging system, and have one-click install for it, then that's a pretty good thing IMO.

Freespire is just a ploy to get you to pay for their service that they use to install programs. Without that service, its not really worth using, stick with someting free.

linspire is junk, and freespire is probably worse

You cannot beat a good package managment system. The best is probably apt, then yum or yast. Emerge is worth throwing in there, if you have lots of cpu cycles/time.
