Nostalgia mood hit me Sunday and I got FS2 from www.gog.com.

I took the plunge and got the Freespace Open mod along with the graphical enhancements. Took me a little bit of reading to figure out exactly what I had to install but....

WOW, how can a game this old still be this good? I barely remember these missions. Boy, the flight controls and game play is really spot on. I can't believe nobody has remade this or anything like it.

I figure even if I only play it for a couple day, 2 bags of Doritos is more expensive and will not last as long.

I cry for Alpha 2 and Alpha 3. They rarely survive. :(

One thing that finally dawned on me - I was a huge Galactic Civ fan, they took so much RIGHT from this game it is not even funny ( ship names/art ). Which also makes me want to re-install GC2 but...that is another Sunday.

Yup, I bought this game a couple of weeks ago from gog, and dam was it fun. I missed it the first time, but I loved X-wing/Tie Fighter/Wing Commander/Privateer, can't believe I missed this gem the first time around. Still a blast to play.

If you installed FS2 Open, there are about 10 or so extra campaigns, some quite difficult.

I got FS2 the other day too from GOG. I'm still trying to figure out how to install the FS2 Open stuff lol. Go here, move that, copy this to that, find the right exe file........I'll get it tho!

FS2:O is still one of my favorite games, and there are quite a few excellent user-made campaigns out there, some with VO. I remember Derelict being one of my favorites, and there's also that one that's supposed to be an Inferno lead up (don't have access to game sites at work, sorry).
