FREENAS and Raid controller and drivers

I am about to build a FreeNAS server using the latest 8.0 release. I have 2 PCI IDE Raid controllers, the Highpoint 404 and Highpoint 454. Freenas 7 supported the 454 from what I read, but 8 does not seem to have support for either card listed in the documentation. I have downloaded the BSD drivers from Highpoint, and was wondering if it is possible to load the drivers and then utilize all the spare hard drives I have lying around. Basically I have 4 80 gig hard drives, and 4 60 gig hard drives. I will be using a celeron set up from an old hp pavilion with 1 or 2 gigs of ram. Why am I doing this? to keep old equipment useful, keep it out of the landfills, and just to see if it is a viable home network solution.
