I'm in a business where we may be deploying VCD's and SVCD's. We have looked at a number of other companies' products, and one in particular had basically a VCD that also included an autorun with a built-in VCD player, so that the CD could be played on either a home DVD player or a computer. No codecs needed to be installed.

However, after some research, the player is actually part of a $200 software suite. Are there any players out there I could use for this, preferably even cross-platform for mac/pc?

Apparently it uses the GPL liscense, which says that:
"The GPL is a free software license, and therefore it permits people to use and even redistribute the software without being required to pay anyone a fee for doing so."

Sounds good to me...

Unfortunately, I'm looking for something a bit more portable on CD tho - something that doesn't require any user installation, and that will autorun the video. This is a great little player though!

Pinnacle's Impression includes what we're looking for - a very basic player that plays the video on autorun, and has a very simple, easy interface - play, forward, back, progress bar - not even options for open or close.

Just not sure if something like that exists...
