I've just finished Freelancer and apparently the game doesn't just "end" but the storyline does. I guess I'm free to do whatever now, which is cool. I went to check out a couple things on the net as to what else I can buy and I found some info about systems and planets that aren't in my log in the game.

How am I supposed to get there if I can't... get there?

I'm just shy of level 19. Do I need to gain levels in order for those systems (Omega-41 and Omicron Gamma) to unlock or something??

You search. Simple answer.

To do this without dying of severe boredom and annoyance, you need GameFAQs and look at one of the star maps or wormhole charts.

There are loads of hidden Jump Holes around systems and they will lead you to other sectors with some of the more Pirate factions, some Nomads and the like.

Hope I havent spoiled anything for you but if you post on this and I'll check it when I get back from work and directly link you to some of the FAQs, keeping spoilers to a minimum.

Eagle(IIRC) with Nomad Weapons is probably the best Fighter setup you can get. Most manueverable of the Heavy Fighters.

That said, the Humpback Freighter all filled with a good balance of Weapons makes for some real fun battles. Manueverability is pure crap, but the thing is the closst you can get to having a Military Capitol Ship and if your aim is good you can take on Military high paying Missions against some tough Fighters. Some of the best fun I had was running Cargo through a number of hostile systems and having to fight through gangs of Gate Jumpers and the like. My trusty Humpy just loved to mix it up. :)

Ah the good old days. Fighting the Nomads (I think) in those funky sectors, they were cloaked so you could hardly see them and all.

I haven't come across anyone who's cloaked during battle yet. I've seen cloaked ships uncloak in cutscenes, but not in a fight.

Meh, I don't much like running cargo. You've got to travel way too far for it to pay off. By the time I run a large cargo that pays off 10x what I bought it for, I can run several level ~35ish missions paying nearly 100k each.

It's not for everyone, but if you get bored it's a nice change of pace. Another option is to use the Humpy to whack the factions at Rebel bases or the Jumpgate at planet Pittsburg. Just park yourself in a good position and fire away. After awhile you'll have a cargo hold full of Artifacts or other valuable Good you can get good $$ for at Manhattan. Just have to watch out for the Law.

If you really care, google "FL Datastorm" and install it. Reads the datafile and makes a near-complete (it misses the superconductor-giving wreck in Texas) browsable map with coordinates of everything.

Personally, I've always flown a Sabre (forward facing turret > durability > Eagle). I've taken a Titan the other two times, and it seemed just as maneuverable as a Sabre (and Anubis?) Never flown an Eagle, gives me something to try now! :D

I was pretty happy with the Anubis until I realized that I could get other Very Heavy Fighters. I was hauling around 2 Class 10 weapons wondering WTF to do with them because I couldn't find any place that sold ships capable of mounting Class 10's. I did a little google search and voila. Now I just have to remember where the hell I got into dogfights that net me the Class 10 weapons to begin with because apparently you can't buy them anywhere.

Find the Unnamed Jumpholes to the Nomad systems. You won't have to go through the Holes, Nomads will likely show up.

I've already found one of those; now I just have to remember where it was. Nomad weapons are better than the Class 10's?

Nomad weapons are class 10. What's great about them is that they are the most powerful(IIRC), but use very little power compared to the other weapons.
