Freelancer Demo- Crash to Desktop

I can play the demo alright but when ever I buy enough commodities to fill up my cargo hold the game crashes to my desktop, anybody else having this problem too?
 
Sell off your cargo and upgrade all your parts including your ship. You can play as long as you don't reach a certain cash point or level 2. My net worth right now is some 50,000 credits and I have virtually no cash on hand.
