FreeDOS setup doesn't work

I'm trying to make a FreeDOS boot USB drive. I have FreeDOS 1.4. When I run setup.bat it says it is not 64 bit compatible. I don't currently have a 32 bit OS install on any of my computers. Any work arounds?

Yeah, modern hardware can't boot old OSes. Tom's Hardware says to use VirtualBox. Virtualization, with that or DosBox or Bochs or Qemu or something else, is probably the right answer. But I did find a 64-bit FreeDOS that might have a small chance of booting on its own.

Thanks. But since it's on git hub, there's a pretty small chance of figuring out exactly what to download and try. 🙂

Agreed some of us don't have any computer training whatsoever so figuring out git hub is impossible. I want to flash my SAS controller to IT mode so I can't boot from a hard drive attached to the controller. I used rufus to install the image to a USB drive. Everything seemed to go ok but I'll see if the drive is bootable tomorrow.

You could also use something like rufus to burn the floppy or cd to the usb if you don't want to mess with a virtual machine and don't need the native boot.
