I'm having a slight problem with an external Freeagent Go (320GB). As soon as my computer (Asus P5B-Deluxe) has fallen asleep the drive starts squealing like mad. I've tried all of the usb ports and even returned the drive with another so I know it's not just a defective drive. Is this a usb power issue?
Edit: I managed to get it working. I had a spare usb2 pci card, installed it and it goes to sleep nice and quite. I'm guessing the mobo's usb gives just enough power to keep the power on the devices but not enough to fully power the drive.
