Thanks, great deal. I'm used to seeing the base edition of most encylopedias free after rebate. This is the delux edition that inludes an atlas, dictionary, theosaurus, and some other stuff.

The Norton System Works2000 does come with it(CD only). It arrived in 2 days.

raskol: The documentation doesn't mention "ghost", although I
don't know what that is.

Thanks again.

Thanx Bobe. Mine came in perfect order (with norton) and the rebate form right on top. Does the encylopedia really retail for $119?

This deal has changed a little bit, but it's still awesome: Apparently they ran out of regular System Works, and are now including SystemWorks 3.0 Professional. They've bumped up the price, but only $3.95. So for $43.95 you get the encyclopedia and SystemWorks, with a $40 mail-in rebate. $4.95 shipping for UPS 2-day.

I installed SystemWorks 2K last night (I had been using the previous version), and it's definitely worth it. Runs a lot faster, can be easily customized to remove some of the bulkier components, and just overall a much tighter program. Assuming we all get our rebates, this is a fantastic find.

And by the way, the enclopedia doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. Nothing I'm ever going to use, but a nice gift for a kid.

So, does this mean that it will come with Ghost? I know the deal was great before this, but if Ghost is with it that would be even better. BTW, everytime I try to connect to the site it times out. Is anyone else having trouble? I will try again later tonight when I get home. Hopefully it will be working then.

Thanks.

YES IT FINALLY COMES WITH GHOST!!! :)

I'm able to connect with no problem. There's a link you can click on that will tell you what's included in Professional. As far as I can tell, Ghost is the only extra of any benefit.

Ghost seems like an interesting program, but one that I can imagine using maybe once or twice in my lifetime. Anyway, it's still a great deal.

Yeah, now this deal is huge if you actually end up with ghost(BTW jay, Ghost is a program that lets you easily copy a complete image of one hd to another, or to removable storage, like cd-rws, zips, etc.) That program alone retails for over $60 at most places.
And I had problem getting through today as well (esp. since it's posted at some of the big bargain sites now). I just kept explorer open to the MSBCD page (whichever step in the checkout process I was able to get to before getting stuck) but kept connecting and disconnecting to my isp until I could get all the way through the process. I have no idea why this works, but it does.

thanks for the bump

searched the net for a description on Ghost

.......technically savvy home computer users can use it to migrate data files, applications, and system settings when replacing an old PC with a new one; clone an entire hard drive when upgrading your hardware; create compressed hard disk backups; and restore disk images during disaster recovery. You can copy disk images to removable media, then restore entire images or individual files and directories as needed.......

p.s. saw Ghost at some sites for around $60 bucks

Well, I went ahead on ordered me a copy. I really hope the rebate is a fast return. Is this going to be a rebate we fill out when we get the software or will they take care of it for us in the ordering process?

BTW, I checked at Outpost.com for the price of the Pro version and they list it for $95 (or $75 with some type of Symantec rebate.) So this is really a cool offer. And yes, Ghost is something like $60 too, alone.

Mulder: The rebate form comes in the package. It's pretty painless. Cut the UPC code out and mail it off.

The rebate, by the way, is direct from IBM, so don't worry about the fact that these msbdc guys don't have much of a track record yet. They shipped my package right away, and it came UPS 2-day, even though the checkout said UPS ground.

I'm just wishing I had waited so that I could get SytemWorks pro. But I'm still happy.

Bobe,
Thanks for the heads up!
Looks great! Came with SystemWorks Pro! Yeeee-high! I have been waiting to do a good pricematch or something to get just regular systemworks for $20-$25 and now I'm getting $89 worth of WorldBook Reference AND Systemworks Pro for FREE after rebate!

Adios and happy 4th to all you Anandtechers!
