Free wireless 802.11 access? Starbucks T-mobile Hotspots?

I have to go into Nassau Long Island (Mineola-Garden City) tomorrow, and I will need Internet access in the afternoon. well, T-Mobile Wireless Broadband are everywhere wherever there's a starbucks, and there's a whole bunch of starbucks in there, but do i have to pay for it? or can any joe schmoe connect to it?

im gonna go get my AXIM and search for a free signal... hopefully i wont get arrested like the Florida guy...

i know. the thing is i dont wanna sit around in my car. i need to do some work at noon and my gf has an appointment in there that i have to drive her to. and gas being 60 bucks a tank now i dont feel like driving back home. i want the comfort of a chair and table... like starbucks. but dont wanna pay nobody for using their network for an hour or two
