Free Wii when you sign up for Comcast tv, internet and phone.

I just a got a snail mail advertiser that says you get a free Wii when you sign up.
You get Starz and HBO included. You pay 129.99 and must make a 24 month committment. For new subscribers only.
Ends August 17th.

Is this a Hot Deal?

we pay about $100/month for TW RR and Cable with HD DVR and HBO. I imagine phone service may be about $20 additional per month so it may not be a bad deal except for the 2 year comittment.

I've seen this on a couple other forums; most of the consensus is that it's NOT a good deal, despite the mystique surrounding the Wii's perceived rarity.

Unless you have express need for all the services and are willing to shell out $130 x 24 = $3k, a "free" Wii seems like a relative pittance considering how much they're making off you.

kinda meh.

the 2 year commitment kills the deal.

ATT U-verse sent me a 200 dollar check just for signing up, no commitment at all. + frist month was free. now that was a hot deal 🙂

there are better comcast deals if you look

That is terrible. I pay Comcast about $70/month in promo prices for HD, starz, HBO, SHO, 6/1mbps internet. Sure I have to buy my own Wii but I have plenty of money leftover after paying my cable bill... Also not in a contract and I am about to flip my pro rates for new promo rates.

My advice is to call customer service, tell them you want to get an account. You were planning on getting DSL/blah blah whatever competitor, and would like to see what Comcast (or whomever monopolizes your area) has to offer. I did this and some really nice CSR spent an hour finding all these great deals for me and put together a custom made package for me. My package would cost me double normally.

i just got something in the mail about this....the deal ACTUALLY gets worse. hard to believe i know.

the 130/month is only for the first 12 months, the 2nd 12 says the "current pricing" is in the range of 179 and 189/month...so yeah expect to be paying at least 180 per month for the 2nd year.

horrible deal...makes me wonder how many people are that mathmatically challenged to think that's actually a good deal.

Jeeze, the other thing comcast does is they give you the run around and don't allow you to get a better deal when you've been a loyal customer. Best way to take care of that is to hang up and try another customer service rep.

Also, if you cancel before the 2year contract is up, you have to reimburse them for the Wii. Comcast's pricing is horrible around here compared to U-Verse. For $129.99/month on U-Verse, I can get their top teir DSL and every movie/sports/etc channel under the sun without fear of a huge rate increase. Oh, I get a free DVR and up to 3 additional set top boxes for no extra charge too.

Personally, I signed up for U-Verse Elite Internet with their Family programming package. U-Verse doesn't require a land line like traditional DSL, so I bought a couple of Phillips Skype phones and just use Skype for all our long distance. It costs us about $90/month for 6M/1M DSL, lots of digital channels, free on-demand kids programming, to keep the laptop running Skype 24/7, and all the long distance we care to use via Skype.

We subscribe to Skype-In for $60/year and pay the $3.00/month for Skype-Out = $8/month + electricity to run the laptop at ~$35/year. Add this to the ~$75/month for all the U-Verse stuff to come out just shy of $90/month for everything.

I agree, like I said before a CSR can really help or hurt. If you get a jerk, call back later. From my experience they have a lot of flexibility to help or hurt your wallet.

Or if you are in an area that dosent have Uverse you get to pat $160 a month (on a 2 year contract) with NO movie channels and their bottom tier DSL, its an additional charge for the DVR etc. I'm just hoping ComCrap will buy me out of AT$T's contract.
