So I have a Logitech mouse where you can use the wheel in free wheel mode. Really like this. So I'm doing file operations in Windows Explorer. I'm selecting multiple files that are not located next to each other, so using ctrl + click and then using the wheel to scroll to my next selection. Then all of a sudden I'm looking at thumbnails of the files, my 20 odd file selections have been lost and I have been sent to the top of the page . ARRRRGGGHHH!!!
Turns out it because there is a new short cut where crtl + mouse wheel = zoom in / out. Great nothing wrong with that, quite usefull. The problem is that Windows Explorer interprets that as meaning you want to change the view mode from 'details' to one of the other layout functions. And goes to the top of the page. Not really a zoom then. At least in other apps when I use this short cut the page stays focused at the same place and my selections are not lost...
Anyway it must be that sometimes my mouse wheel is just on the edge of a scroll increment or is still spinning a little when I hit the crtl key and that is sending this shortcut.
Would not be so much of a problem if Windows Explorer did something logical or consistent with other apps, when getting this short cut. Anyway very annoying. Anyone know how to turn this off. Otherwise I will have to switch scroll modes under the mouse everythime I want to do crtl file selections.
I thought Microsoft did not do a big upgrade in Win 7 over Vista so they could spend time improving the UI and your interation with the OS. In this case that's a fail....
