I have always used the firewall that was included with whatever internet security program I was using at the time.

However, this time I just purchased just a antivirus program because of a good deal on it (Bitdefender).

Now, I have a wireless router that has a firewall and NAT filtering, but I always like to run a software firewall "just in case". I have taxes and so forth stored on my PC. It doesn't have to be fancy, but I don't like it eating up my resources and make the web crawl.

I intially downloaded and tried Comodo, but found it to be too resource intensive and a little overkill for what I wanted in a software firewall.
When I tried to uninstall it, it does not do so completely (which was very disappointing for a product that many seem to like).

I then took a look at several other free firewalls for Vista (which isn't a lot), and most seemed to be poorly rated (ZoneAlarm free, etc.).

I came accross Webroot Firewall and it seems it is now Freeware and is only a 2.5 Mb download.

It seems to be a nice little firewall and I just wanted all the other tight wads who were looking for a free firewall to a least know it is out there.

Interesting, very interesting, when I went to the top ten review link, spyware terminator popped up an alert that it was a dangerous website.

I'm not sure why it would generate an alert (maybe because of cookies or something).

You can Google other reviews, but the Top 10 was the most thorough that I found.
