Free webpage hosting (homepage.com) OK for (small) business?

I am doing the webpage for an electronic supply store, similar to allelectronics. His storefront operation isn't that big, but his main thing is wholesale custom cables. This is his first real page and since he doesn't have much material, I thought it would be sufficient enough to host it on homepage.com.

Now, is this OK for a business? Or should he get his own domain and pay the webhosting fees. The site is rapidly growing, and I think soon that he will have the products on the web (no e-commerce, however). Somewhere along the line, if he is serious enough, he will def. have to go with his own domain, but for now, would this be enuf?

thanks

There is no way in hell I'd have my business hosted with a freebie outfit. If the site has problems, you have ZERO leverage.

I'm going to have to agree with Russ. For businesses, free webhosting just doesn't cut it.

It's not very expensive to get your own domain, so just try and do that if you can.. if it is "rapidly growing", just go for the domain now.

bizli.com is free business oriented hosting...if you truely _must_ go free...they are kind of halfassed about uptime, take your chances i guess

Keep in mind that it really is just an online brochure, and it is not really big.

Anyways, I think I am going to register the domain and sign up for some webhosting. This would be my first time doing anything like this (ie registering, etc). How does it work? Do I upload to their servers through the web brower? Would it just be like a free host, but with more bells and whistles?

Is there a site that explains all this to me?

thanks
