I want to check if I have any worms on my computer...I dont really have time or money to get nav but I remembered that one time on the symantec site I could do an online virus scan from their site...I looked around but I couldnt find it. Could someone link me or point me to another good virus scanning site?

Thanks a lot!

*sighs*

I have ten trojans.
-TROJ SMALL.AC
-TROJ SCAGENT.B
-TROJ PORNDIAL.BP
-TROJ SCAGENT.B
-TROJ SCAGENT.B
-TROJ DELF.CY
-TROJ DELF.CY
-TROJ RHEI.A
-TROJ STRTPAGE.IX
-TROJ AGENT.AY

Housecall could delete all but three of them. It seems symantec does not have many removal tools for these. What should I do?

Is it possible to install norton and get updated and then get rid of the infected files? Or am I doomed to reformatting?

Write down the locations of the files, and the file names, reboot into safemode commandline, and delete the files manually... then run housecall again.

looooooooool, you're fvcked. Congrats. Reformat. As soon as you have a Trojan on your computer -> Reformat.

i'd also disable windows restore if you are on XP. Right click on "my computer", click on the restore tab, and check the "turn off system restore" box. Sometimes winders has a habit of restoring a lot of trojans.

okay two different answers.. which one is best?

does copying the locations and reboting in safe mode realy work? I seem to remember having trouble with that procedure... the trojans replicate and change names and crap...

A lot of trojans will be listed under "msconfig" and will start as a service/process under "normal" mode and won't let you delete them if they are running. Under safe mode they might not start and you can delete the exe they are associated with as well as any registry keys that your system uses to call them up.

Exactly... and like someone said above... absolutely disable restore mode.

YOU DONOT NEED TO REFORMAT... that guy doesnt know what he's talking about..

1.Disable restore mode.
2. Run Housecall... delete what you can... write down what you can't...
3. immediately reboot into safemode... delete the files manually
4. run housecall to verify you now have a clean system
5. Continue downloading Pr0n.

If a computer EVER has a Trojan, I will reformat it. Why? Because if you have a Trojan on your computer, ANYTHING can be installed. I think YOU have no idea what you're talking about. There are home-made Trojans which aren't detected at all, etc. To be 100% sure that you have a clean system is: Reformat.

But yeah, I'm SURE he doesn't know what he's talking about too.
