I pull about 5,000k/s off newshosting.com, I'm going to try usenet out tomorrow, if the speeds are better i'll probably switch

I went with Astraweb because they currently have a pay-as-you-go $25 for 90 gigs promotion...I don't download nearly as much as I used to so I've only paid for 180 gigs so far and it'll last me at least a few months.

But thanks for the notice OP, if I have some free time tomorrow I'll give usenetserver a try.

bloody hell, last time they had a promotion like this I used up 70 gigs. I'm going to have to move stuff around to get it all on one drive.

i've got usenetserver...i don't really use it much anymore (i just don't feel like downloading), but i always max my lowly 10mbit connection out...wonder if speeds will drop due to the free trial...

I can personally vouch for usenetserver.com. I have used them for quite a while for a long time and have never had a day of issues.

The speed seems good (about 6,000 k/second) but the retention doesn't seem that great. I downloaded something that was 2 days old and it was incomplete. I re-downloaded with my newshosting account and it worked fine

I have. I only joined for 3 days on the 3 days for $3. All three of those days their servers were down, i could not do a thing. I wasted $3

what's a good newsreader ? I doubt OE will do it... 😉

GrabIT if you are downloading binaries

😕

GrabIT sucks. It downloaded something for me, and didn't bother to decode them into actual RAR files. Newsbin Pro worked perfectly, and always has done.
