I am a Internet Security 2009 user, so I am only positive about the upgrade using this version. Maybe older versions of Norton will work as well.

Just log into your Norton account (you can click the link at top inside your program main screen by opening Norton on your desktop).

Look for update link in the middle right of your product history website.

The next screen on the right you will notice a box that says "update me now" and it is supposed to be automatic. You can try it, but it never worked for me. It would download a version checker but would never connect and download the actual program.

Instead click the link under that box that says "Choose My Product Manually". Select your version and then download the program. It will install over 2009 version in most cases, however when you reboot your PC it will seem like your system hangs during Windows reloading. Just wait and it will eventually fully restart. It took over 5 minutes on my laptop and around 4 minutes on my desktop.

This has always been the case. Anyone with a valid subscription to Norton 2006 or newer can upgrade for free.

Thank you so much. My NIS 2009 still have 145 days left and was tempted to buy the new 2010 version.

Yeah, I got an email with an upgrade link to 2010.

QUESTION: I have Malwarebytes Antimalware running alongside NIS. Anyone think there's a need for that, or is it overkill? Anything it's likely to stop that NIS wont?

I think it's a good idea. Malwarebytes could potentially find things that other programs won't.

That's been my experience too...and if MBAM don't find it, then SAS will. It all depends on the particular item in question. :)
