There is absolutely NO CHARGE for the TV tuner hardware or enabling software or shipping or anything. You will not be charged in the future either. You'll notice we do not ask for your credit card information upon becoming a Planetville Citizen. All cost is borne by Planetville and our partners. "

I think the software may have a bunch of ads and stuff, not sure... but for the power users, im sure you can get around that. Enjoy!

I guess those scammers only want to collect email addresses and other personal information. I signed up about two years ago and have not received anything from them. And I don't know of anyone who received the TV tuner they promised.

From the FAQ:

Q When do I get the TV tuner card and software I signed up for ?

A The hardware will start shipping at the end of October, 1999. The roll-out will be on a "first come, first served" basis. Shipment date depends on how many registrants we receive, the arrival of hardware will be based on where you are on the list numerically, and not what day you registered.

1999????!!!! This deal may have been over for years!

This one would be a good one to try on a fresh email address used solely for this promotion to see how much spam suddenly starts appearing after registering.

<< Planetville's business model was to provide TV tuner hardware to build a web enabled TV viewing audience. Unfortunately, we were unable to secure the necessary financing to follow through on our business plan. >>

I think this is certifiably DEAD :)

They probably pre-paid (ala contract) for web-space on a server. When the company went defunct, page already paid for....and forgotten.

yeah I never got my card and I signed up in 1999.

Fat chance in hell you'll ever see this thing.

Although I do know of ONE guy to get it. ONE guy out of like 100 people I knew who signed up.

Hah!

Anyway, you ain't gonna see this card.
