Free Travel Packages...

We bought a new car for my wife, and one of the promotions from the dealership was a free trip to one of several cities.

www.travelamericainc.com

It's the Platinum Passport package, which includes one of Vegas, Orlando, San Diego, San Fransisco or Reno.

Airfare, accomodations are included for 3 days/2 nights. Only thing we have to pay is airport and destination taxes.

Anybody been on one of these and if so, what type of experience was it?

As long as you can get the dates you want and the destination is acceptable, the cost of taxes in minimal to the benefit.

Make sure what they mean by destination taxes.

based on the site
Offering the right incentive will help you meet your goals, whether they be increasing sales, retaining stellar performers, or building loyalty. More than cash or merchandise, the right incentive is travel.

Travel creates memories that linger long after the actual vacation, and creates a significant level of excitement. Whereas cash rewards are usually spent on paying bills and merchandise gifts are frequently purchases that would have been made anyway, travel acts as a luxury item and has an extremely high perceived value.

It is a way for the dealer to thank-you without forking over a lot of cash.
Develop loyalty at a small cost. Most places that participate are providing you the "spare" capacity that would otherwise go un-used. The site that handles the package allows the destination to recoup some of the unused marketing space; both the site and the dealer make out by having you act as referrals due to a pleasent experience and getting something for nothing from the dealer; and you by having an enjoyable time at the destination because the costs while there do not exist as overhead.

Makes sense. I figured it was legit, but curious as to the quality of the accomodations. Sounds like it's a bit unpredictable in that regard.

Most are mid range - equivalent to a Holiday Inn/ Quality Inn setup.
You will not get an Motel 6/Super 8 setup.

Do not expect a Park Adams or Hyatt.

Best to contact the "agency" for details before you commit to a trip.

There are probalby two levels, depending on the time of year and/or scheduled activities in the area.
